I am writing to you today with a heavy heart and to inform you that after 18 years of trading, the financial position of the company has become untenable. The Coronavirus has hit the events industry harder than many other sectors and our market has effectively vanished overnight and despite our best efforts to mitigate our ongoing costs and having worked incredibly hard to give the business the best chance to survive until some normality returns to the market, however, despite some incredible support from our landlord, some of our suppliers and the tireless work of our team to build a brand new business, Appetite Delivers. Sadly, we do not have the luxury of giving this amazing product the time it needs to grow and I have to consider my responsibilities as the Founder and Director of the business.

 

With no prospect of events taking place of a size or volume that could generate enough revenue to enable us to keep the integrity of the company, and with limited help forthcoming from government, I am left with no alternative but to put the company into administration.

By calling in the administrators now, before the situation becomes critical, I am ensuring that the business has the best chance of finding a buyer to deliver the significant confirmed order book for the coming year. I am desperately disappointed on so many levels. Our company has grown enormously over the past three years and we were forecasting sales in excess of £2m this year.

 I am devastated for my amazing team, whose hard work and dedication have made the company synonymous with quality, service, creativity and fair play in Scotland. I am devastated that we will no longer be working with our clients, both corporate and private, our venues and suppliers who have supported us through thick and thin.

 

I fully acknowledge that my decision will generate a lot of worry for clients who hold deposits with us for future events and I would like to assure you that I will continue to work closely with the Administrators to secure a buyer and to facilitate the best possible outcome for all. Sadly, there was no realistic alternative to this and to continue would have been irresponsible and detrimental to the interests of our stakeholders.  I would ask for your forbearance in the meantime and request that any queries be directed to the administration team who will keep all stakeholders informed of the status of the administration.

Duncan Raggett of Anderson Anderson & Brown LLP was appointed Administrator of Appetite Direct Limited (“the Company”) on 4 August 2020.   The Administrator manages the affairs, business and property of the Company and contracts as agent of the Company, without personal liability.

As part of our commitment to corporate responsibility we have a number of Charity partners who we work with regularly. Our kitchen team have coordinated and serviced Edinburgh’s Crisis at Christmas for the past 5 years, which delivered 1,400 hot meals to homeless people over the Christmas period in 2017. We also support the Soldier’s Charity, Big Curry Lunch and The Prince's Trust. In addition, we work with local schools to provide work experience for young people and have provided placements and employment for the homeless through our partner Crisis. As part of our environmental commitment, we work with and promote local suppliers and growers, support small businesses and work with ethical partners such as Changeworks and Vegware to ensure that we are making as little impact on the environment as possible. We are very proud to have won numerous awards over the past few years, including Best Caterer, Events Team of the Year, Supplier Excellence, Best Independent Caterer and Event Services Grand Prix.
