We are currently recruiting for a Senior Sous Chef to join our fantastic kitchen team.

Appetite Events is a Scottish owned, multi-award winning event catering company based in Edinburgh.  We specialise in a range of events including gala dinners, weddings, canape parties and in particular, bespoke menus for corporate and private clients.  This is a challenging role which has huge scope for creativity and the delivery of top quality food to fine dining standards and is a great opportunity for an ambitious Chef to join one of the leaders in event catering in the UK.

Job Description

Set up, organise and run kitchens at events
Supporting senior chefs with day to day running of the kitchen and to take charge when senior chefs are out on events
Ensuring the brigade has high culinary standards
Ensuring quality control and consistency of food production
Assisting with food purchasing and storage
Maintaining a safe and hygienic kitchen environment
Assisting with the creation of new recipes and write menus

Essential Experience

Minimum 5 years experience either as a Sous Chef or someone who is looking to move up to the next level
A wide understanding on modern and classical cooking techniques including butchery and pastry
Highly creative and an ability to create bespoke menus for a range of events
A team player with can do attitude
An interest in using quality local ingredients and an ethical approach to food purchasing and production
Highly organised
Someone who works well under pressure
An individual who is good at working with other people and mentoring fellow team members
Good time management
Have a good understanding of hygiene standards and HACCP procedures
Food safety to intermediate level
First rate culinary skills

Desired Skills

Experience in event catering to the highest level would be an advantage
Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
Driving Licence


This is a full-time position based in Granton, Edinburgh

Up to £25,000 basic per annum, plus paid overtime, expenses and time off in lieu. We also offer no split shifts, regular evenings and weekends off and a great lunch daily.
